About theClub.
The UBCO Capital Markets Club was founded to address a clear gap: while UBCO offers strong academic foundations in economics and management, students had limited structured opportunity to apply that knowledge to real investment decisions.
Comparable institutions (UBC Vancouver, Okanagan College, Queen's University) have demonstrated that student-managed investment programs dramatically improve career outcomes and industry readiness. The CMC was built to bring that same standard to UBCO's Okanagan campus.

Our mission is to bridge the gap between academic finance and applied investment practice, developing analytical thinking, professional communication, and disciplined decision-making in every member.
Institutional-Grade Process
We operate like a real fund: structured pitch processes, investment committees, compliance frameworks, and Bloomberg Terminal infrastructure. No casual stock picks.
Progressive Development Path
Every member enters as an Analyst and progresses through demonstrated merit, building from financial statement analysis to full equity research and portfolio-level decision-making.
Built for Careers
Our training, certifications (Bloomberg BMC, Wall Street Prep), and industry speaker series are designed to directly translate to internship and full-time roles in capital markets.
The CMC's structure draws from the operational frameworks of leading student funds across Canada:
Queen's University Investment Counsel · McGill Desautels Capital Management · Okanagan College Student Investment Fund · Western Investment Club · Calgary Portfolio Management Trust
